I adore my Bites-A-Lot Bat! Such a lovable & huggable vampire baby. With soft fur, adorable expression, nice embroidery, excellent design, & long-lasting materials, this dude is truly the perfect fit for anyone who loves spooky stuff & cuteness combined. For a more detailed breakdown of this adorable little one, please read on!
Pros:
-Made of 100% polyester, soft to the touch. Sensory-friendly for the most part! Once brushed out, even the thicker pile fabric on the face is soft! Not unpleasant to touch, even for someone like me with extreme texture sensitivities.
-Good quality materials were used. Most of the plush feels like standard polyester, with portions being softer polyester, polyester minky, thicker polyester, & polyester faux-fur. The belly design feels akin to suede.
-Embroidery is not thick enough to be a sensory issue. It feels fine to the touch, just like most good-quality embroidery does. It is not thick or chunky at all. Embroidery used is high quality, showing a cohesive image & design.
-Cute design, great color palette, adorable fangs, expressive eyes, sturdy wings, silly floof of a tail, & large bat ears. The yellow star paw pads make this darling even more cute to behold!
-Well-stuffed & well-made overall; this dude is filled well with soft stuffing, giving him a firm yet still huggable feel when held close. This plush will easily stand the test of time; seems like it won’t wear down easily! Batty baby here will easily withstand hard cuddlers, & will gladly endure multiple cuddle sessions. He is built to last!
-Even if small issues - like accidental rips or seams accidentally popping open - do happen, they are not at all hard to fix due to the wonderful quality of the materials used.
-Exactly as advertised, especially in size. I may lovingly call this dude little, but he ain’t no small fry! At approximately 20” tall & with a wingspan approximately 14” from left wing tip to right wing tip, this dude is lovably large! For reference, 17oz plastic water bottles are 9” in height, the average Build-A-Bear is 14” in height, & standard modern Care Bear plushies are 8”-14” in height. Each of the Snughouls are bigger than all of these!
Cons:
-My Bites-A-Lot had some mild embroidery issues on the belly design. One part of the lower section of the blood splatter came unraveled. I couldn’t really fix this problem myself, even when I tried to re-sew it. I don’t count this against the plushie, though - it just makes him uniquely mine. The only real issue I had was the many small pieces of clear plastic that were embedded into several of the embroidery edges & small furry areas. While tedious to fix, I managed to do so by prying them up with a sewing needle by hand & then ripping them out from where the plastic backing had become trapped in the fur.
-His nose came loose from the body, almost falling off entirely! When I looked closer, I saw it had been sewn on with a single thin thread that had come undone. Nose was easily fixed with stronger thread & a few ladder stitches by me, so no harm done there, but this is a word of warning to anyone who can’t sew. The nose is incredibly loose & will come off easily! (See images attached.)
-Tag texture is a bit rough for me; this is due to my texture sensitivities, especially related to paper-based materials.
-If you have texture sensitivities to long pile fabric, you could spend some time removing the small amount of long pile fabric this cutie has on the face & tail, then either leave it as-is or replace it… or simply accept that this little guy ain’t the one for you. As someone with texture sensitivities myself, the long pile fabric doesn’t really bother me, except for the stuff in the ears. Inner ear fluff is particularly difficult to touch, as it has rough edges at all the seams. I have been hand-sewing for several years now, but I don’t know a way to properly fix the inner ear fluff issue. Perhaps there is a simple fix, but I personally haven’t found one.
-For those with noise sensitivities, the belly embroidery makes a noticeable noise when touched; pretty sure this is due to the aforementioned plastic backing material. It reminds me of baby toys that crinkle when squeezed. While it is quiet enough to be barely noticed by me, it could still annoy those with extreme hearing sensitivities.
-The ears & wings have polyester batting inside them for stability, & for those aforementioned extremely sensitive individuals, the sound they make might set them off.
Overall, Bites-A-Lot is the only vampire that I shall gladly allow into my house. Such a cutie pie, soft to the touch, & adorable to look at, this lil vampy is the perfect addition to any Cryptid Cuddler’s home. I would highly recommend getting him!
